Lâm and queer walk, our queer life and pride

I called our trip to Sóc Sơn's pasture and the Lake near Tam Đảo National Park a queer walk*, a peculiar adventure. That day we went out in search of mushrooms. While my friend, Lâm, had extensive knowledge of magic mushrooms, my interest was primarily in wild mushrooms inspired by Netflix's Fantastic Mushroom and some YouTube documentaries. Lâm has been an avid hiker for years, always eager to embark on new journeys. He is resourceful and experienced, whereas my passion for hiking and mushroom exploration developed later in life. Despite our differences, we have been friends for 13 years, initially bonding over my curiosity about his life, including his journey of self-discovery, his relationships with family and friends, and, of course, his love life. As time went on, our friendship deepened, and I witnessed Lâm's interests expand in unexpected and unconventional ways, even beyond the realm of LGBTQ+ narratives. Through his diverse interests and life experiences, I've come to realize the profound connection between humanity and nature. We have a deep appreciation for nature, finding joy in its mountains, islands, and rivers, without feeling the need to possess them to find happiness. We may appear foolish or aimless in the eyes of others, often venturing into nature without any specific purpose other than to challenge our bodies. It may seem like we lack direction in life. However, we share a kindness towards all beings, not just humans, and a genuine concern for the environment. Perhaps our unconventional way of living, exploring, and learning has its own unique significance for us, driven by our sensitive souls and passions.

As I reflect on my friend, I can't help but think about the upcoming theme I plan to discuss: LGBTIQ and pride. Lâm's journey of self-discovery and his experiences within the LGBTQ+ community have played a significant role in our friendship. Over time, our friendship grew stronger, and I witnessed Lâm's interests and passions expand beyond societal norms and expectations. Our exploration of nature and our unconventional way of living have shown me that pride extends beyond the confines of societal expectations. Living a different and unconventional life can indeed be challenging, particularly when faced with health problems, financial difficulties, and a lack of knowledge in money management. However, amidst these struggles, there are countless beautiful aspects to cherish. Despite not having much, you and your friend possess love, curiosity, and a genuine care for life.
